Hiking gorges in Naples, NY - Conklin gorge
Standard PVC boots were specially modified for hiking
on the water slicked rocks of streams. Sheet metal
screws were inserted into the sole of the boots to
provide excellent traction on the water and algae
covered rocks of the stream bed. Hiking up gorges and
scaling waterfalls provides a challenge as well as
spectacular scenery. The first location explored is
Conklin gorge.

|
Hiking up Tanner gorge.
After returning from Conklin, we drove to our second
stop for hiking. The second place we visited was the
gorge formed by Tanner Creek.
|
|
Hiking up Grimes gorge.
From Tanner Creek, we drove though Naples to our final
hike of the day at Grimes Gorge. Of the three gorges
we hiked, Grimes is probably the most commonly visited.
There is a parking area for visitors and a bridge across
the creek constructed of logs.
